The Mothers’ Union is a global Christian movement working with people of all faiths, and none, to develop communities, strengthen families and advocate for change.
From its beginning in 1876 members have worked to support each another and give a voice to disadvantaged women, while addressing wider societal issues.
It is open to any woman, with children or not, and now also welcomes men as members.
Our branch enjoys a variety of speakers. This year we will learn about the Observer Corps; Mercy Ships which deploys hospital ships to some of the poorest countries in the world, delivering vital, free healthcare to people in desperate need; behind the scenes in Parliament; and a lawyer is coming to talk about her work with victims of Domestic Abuse.
We'll also enjoy doing crafts, listening to favourite music and making chutney.
As a charity we give to a caravan which is used by needy families, and send support to overseas groups.
Our local group has made welcome bags for parents whose children are starting school, collected items for The Bridge, and given toiletries to Wigan Refuge.

We meet on the first and third Wednesdays of every month at 1.30pm in St Anne's Parish Centre. Our programme for the year.
We are a friendly group; so if you would like to visit to hear a particular speaker, you would be very welcome.
